Is Twitter going to kill off blogs?

The answer is yes, because when reading Loic’s post this evening, it seems inevitable that the blog in the literal and conceptual sense will disappear. Twitter is only the name of a service which corresponds to a much larger tendency.

I blog there almost ten times a day, short notes with a link often suits me fine. It’s as if I was speaking to my friends all day, and I also read more than a hundred, as if we were in the same worldwide house. Loïc le Meur

If it’s relatively complex to maintain the editorial quality of a blog, it’s much easier to write short sentences, which don’t commit the writers or the readers. In a sense it’s a fast write service, a sort of new economy fast food, an outlet for simplicity, true-life, and the instantaneous.

For this reason Twitter and other services of the same type will kill off the concept of the blog.
